Melbourne MFR II: Ribs, Respiration & Spine April 21, 22

Myofascial Release: Ribs, Respiration & Spine
Myofascial Release Level II
Contact Hours: 14

MFR 2aThis class enables participants to respond more precisely and efficiently to soft tissue and joint restrictions throughout the thoracic and lumbar spines. Emphasis is given to normalizing vertebral motion via releasing the fourth layer back muscles in conjunction with low force mobilisations. New assessment and palpation skills will be introduced. Participants will leave with a significant increase in their ability to treat two of the most common client complaints, stiffness in the thoracic spine and lumbo-pelvic pain. Additionally, the respiratory function and the mobility of the ribcage are addressed with both direct and functional techniques. These releases often have a profound influence on full body physiological well being.

The class focuses on learning via extensive student exchange

Students will:

  • Expand their ability to make deep and long lasting interventions to localized (segmental) spinal stiffness
  • Develop precise skills for releasing restrictions in the breathing & the ribs
  • Understand basic spinal mechanics and apply this understanding with low force corrections to segmental stiffness

Techniques for:

  • Pectoralis Fascia
  • Lateral seam of ribcage
  • Obliques
  • Fourth Layer Lumbar & Thoracic Muscles
  • Assess and correct Type 2 vertebral fixations
  • Deep Cervical Myofasciae
  • Functional Group Releases for the Rbs
  • Three sacral ligaments
